The 7-Day Gratitude Class
A One-Week Course to Detox Your Attitude
And Change Your Life Forever
Simplify Saturday
Life gets easier when we simplify things. Today is about doing just that. Don’t worry, we’ll start small. It’s up to you if you want to simplify more in the future. Just know that a simpler life is a happier life.
When we’re not paying close enough attention to the important things in life, we start to accumulate things we don’t need. We’ve become a consumer culture much to our detriment. Getting new things hasn’t really helped us to be better people – it’s just made us more comfortable – and kept us from growing.
The best part about simplification is that when we are already thankful for what we have, we tend to want fewer new things. We realize that “The best things in life aren’t things” and we start living at a higher vibration – helping others along the way.
Besides your notebook (or Word file) you will need one other item today – a trash bag. No, I don’t want you to throw things out – I want you to give it away. Get a bag of clothes and other household items together that you can donate to Goodwill, or the Salvation Army – any place that takes used items. If you want to donate other items later, that’s great. Just start with one bag today.
Here are your assignments for the day:
-
Write down 100 things that you are thankful for. Don’t forget to include those things that you are giving away. Make sure that you mention how grateful you are to have had them – how they helped you – and now how grateful you are that you can give them to others who can use them. Then start looking around your house and write down all those other things you are grateful to have. I can promise you that you own WAY MORE than 100 things. You probably don’t think about it like that – but you do.
-
Pay it Forward by dropping off that bag of goods you are donating and take the time to remember how good it feels to give things away AND to have fewer things complicating your space – and your life.
