In the reality of life you don't get a trophy for just participating. You are here for a reason and it's not to spend what precious time you have on this earth NOT making waves. So why is it that so much of society today is part of what Herbert Hoover called "the cult of mediocrity"? Why do so many of us think we have to be common to get along. This kind of thinking actually goes against our God-given talents and abilities.
It's not only your right, but also your responsibility to strive for excellence. In fact, if you want to make this world a better place while you are here and then leave this world a better place than how you found it, you have to do more than just be mediocre. You must be uncommon. You must strive for greatness.
The world has never been made better by mediocre men and women. Never.
When you have legal troubles, do you want the most average lawyer you can find? In a health crisis, do you look for the most mediocre doctor to treat you? How about a just-average mechanic?
Nothing you do is less important than any of these professionals - strive do do whatever it is you do with excellence! Be the leaader that the world needs you to be. When given the choice, never choose to be mediocre.
